SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Friday afternoon, Newsom suggested the state of California pause on reopening.
Newsom says parts of the state are going at different paces, however, one county is having quite a bit of trouble starting the reopening process.
Imperial County, the last county to be formed in California, is one of the only counties that hasn't started to move forward at all.
The county is on a list of counties that require more support than others, with a population of roughly 175,000, Imperial County hospitals do not have the capacity to handle the number of patients being admitted.
Thus far the state has provided 80 beds, two testing sites, a number of personnel to help handle the cases of COVID-19, half a million masks and PPE so far and 76 ventilators.
The state in partnership with FEMA is handling all costs related to the COVID-19 efforts.
