FRESNO, Calif. — No criminal charges will be filed against the Fresno teenager who made threats on social media.

Police say the 16-year-old Fresno High School student made threats on Instagram with a caption that stated "felt cute. Might shoot up a school later."

Fresno County's district attorney's office says there was not a sufficient amount of evidence to file criminal threats.

According to the DA, it makes it legally impossible to file charges when the juvenile did not specify a particular school or person.

The DA went on to say "this type of behavior is completely unacceptable. Posts such as this should be illegal in my opinion, as they cause everyone to live in fear of sending children to school."
