VISALIA (AP) - A Northern California nursing home has 154 cases of the coronavirus and eight residents have died in one of the largest single outbreaks in the state.
Redwood Springs Healthcare Center in Visalia reported the numbers Wednesday.
Nursing homes are considered among the highest-risk places for coronavirus outbreaks because many residents are elderly, have health problems and are in close contact.
Los Angeles County says at least 133 people who lived in nursing homes or skilled nursing facilities have died from the virus. In the San Francisco Bay Area, 13 residents have now died at Gateway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hayward.
