Officials: Catalytic converter thieves now targeting farm vehicles

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KERO) — A warning for farmers across the state. Catalytic converter thieves are targeting vehicles that are often used on farms.

In Merced County authorities reported at least 176 thefts in October.

Thieves sell the expensive metals that are used to make up converters.

The Merced County Sheriff is asking for more aggressive consequences once the thieves are caught.
