Voters in Southern California will decide who should fill a now empty congressional seat. Republican nominee Mike Garcia and Democratic State Assemblywoman Christy Smith are both vying to represent the 25th District in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
According to experts, it appears as if Garcia is in a better position and could beat Smith.
Former Representative Katie Hill vacated the spot late last year after she resigned. A House committee opened an investigation into allegations she engaged in an improper relationship with one of her staffers.
If Garcia wins it would be the first time in more than 20-years that a Republican picked up a Democratic House seat in California.
