Many professional sports have adjusted to the COVID-19 restrictions implemented this season. But one central coast city is completely banning sports of all kinds.
Managers with the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department have spotted large groups of people playing competitive sports. They've advised residents to follow COVID-19 guidelines but when they noticed no one was social distancing they took matters into their own hands.
"Our rangers are faced with having to work with groups who are out and basically in violation of the health order which is holding games. We're not allowed to have any games on our facilities. So soccer matches baseball games, basketball games, those kinds of things," said Alex Posada of the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks Department.
While sports games are not allowed residents can participate in practices with less than ten people.
