More than 200 homes are getting natural gas services through the SoCalGas Brings Reliable, Affordable Natural Gas to California City Residents Program.

Southern California Gas Co. joined with the California City community on Thursday to launch a program that will bring the natural gas service to as many as 224 homes that currently use wood and propane.

Participating homes will be upgraded with new natural gas appliances and a professionally installed natural gas service line. The upgrades will help customers save money on their energy bills and reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions linked to climate change.

The California Public Utilities Commission approved of the California City program in 2018, along with ten other pilot programs to bring safe, affordable, and reliable energy to under served communities in the San Joaquin Valley counties.

Income-qualified customers can also benefit from energy savings and assistance programs that can help them save money. More information about these programs is available at here or by calling 1-800-331-7593.
