BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Congressman TJ Cox is joining the effort in asking the U.S. Department of Agriculture to extend permissions for local food agencies to make commodity supplemental food program deliveries through private partners.

The move is inspired by hardships placed on people during the pandemic.

The USDA allowed these deliveries at the start of the pandemic, but they expired in June. Because of this, nearly 40,000 senior citizens across the state missed their CSFP deliveries.

The fight is on to get the deliveries going again.
