Fatal shooting outside apartment complex in Porterville

PORTERVILLE, Calif. – On Monday, at about 8:30 pm, Porterville Police Officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 400 block of South Main Street.

 

The victim, 34-year-old Richard Hopwood, was found at the entrance of the building. He suffered gunshot wounds and was given medical attention. However, he died from his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

The motive for the crime is still under investigation. There is no suspect information available at this time.
