BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The folks at Honor Flight Kern County won't be returning to our nation's capital until next spring, but they're keeping busy by keeping our local veterans active. Tuesday afternoon, they organized a drive-by birthday parade for a local Korean War vet.

Arthur Gentry is a member of the "Chosin Few," a marine who survived one of the bloodiest battles in Marine Corps history at the Chosin Reservoir.

23ABC's Mike Hart last visited with Art at the 2019 Veteran's Day Parade. He remembered the turning point of the Korean War when nearly 150,000 Chinese soldiers flooded across the North Korean border, overwhelming American forces.

There were 17 medals of honor awarded during the battle the most in any single engagement.
