The City of Taft will be celebrating one of their World War II veterans as Victor Killingsworth turns 100 on Tuesday. The Navy veteran was featured on 23ABC's A Veterans Voice series last December.

A Veteran's Voice: Victor Killingsworth

Killingsworth joined the Navy as an officer one year after Pearl Harbor. He was part of a landing unit that delivered Marines to several major battles across the Pacific, Including Tinian, Saipan, and Iwo Jima.

Killingsworth was also responsible for delivering Carlsons Raiders into enemy territory as part of a daring attack on the Kalajuwon Atoll.

After his time in the service, he wrote a book entitled "The Gator Navy," and returned to Taft where he operated a sporting goods store for more than 40 years.
