BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Notice anything different around here? Starting today, 23ABC News has a brand new look and feel. You’ll still get all the up-to-the-minute breaking news, accurate weather and hard-hitting investigations from 23ABC News you know and trust, but in a new package. We’ve spent months talking to our readers and viewers to understand what’s most important to them and we’re excited to launch this new website design.

Our new design brings a bold, fresh focus to the top stories of the day. At the top of the homepage our showcase area spotlights our coverage with big images and large headlines so you can see what’s important at a glance on your phone or computer. Below that, our new list-style presentation is streamlined to offer an easier browsing experience across desktop and mobile browsers.

When you click or tap on a story, you’ll discover our new article format. Big and clear headlines, followed by a simple and uncluttered reading experience designed for legibility.

More than ever it’s important to be able to find what you’re looking for. We’ve simplified our navigation to reflect the things our newsroom does best. But if you’re a power user or just looking to dig deeper, the menu button at the top left of the page lets you drill down into our coverage areas. Our search is still in a familiar spot at the top of the page, but new to this design are our new “Watch Live” and “Alerts” buttons. “Watch Live” will notify you any time we are streaming live news, whether that’s a scheduled newscast or breaking live coverage. The “Alerts” button let’s you see all of the alerts we’ve posted over the last 24 hours so you don’t miss a thing.

Not only have we redesigned the experience, but we’ve rebuilt the code of our site from scratch. Because of our new site architecture we’ll be able to make continuous improvements to how fast the page loads and how quickly we can deliver updates.

We’re excited to see the new site in action and hope you are too.
