One dead following structure fire in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man is dead and the Kern County Fire Department is investigating after a structure fire erupted in East Bakersfield on Saturday night.

According to KCFD, fire crews responded to reports of a structure fire near the area of Corrientes Street and College Avenue around 8:20 p.m. Upon arrival, crews found a a duplex mutli-family structure on fire.

As they began to fight the blaze, they uncovered the body of a deceased male. The identity and exact cause of death of the person is unknown at this time.

Arson units were called to investigate as crews continued to put out the fire.

No other injuries were reported and the fire is out now.
