BAKERSFIELD, CA. (KERO) — BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO)— A pedestrian is in critical condition after being hit by a car Tuesday evening.

According to Bakersfield Police the call came in for a pedestrian versus vehicle around 6:55 p.m. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with major injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

East-bound traffic is being diverted at 23 & L streets. There is not an estimated time the road will reopen.
