NASCAR racer Kyler Weatherman was looking to make a statement Sunday at the Dixie Vodka 400 while racing a "Blue Lives Matter"-themed car.

A fire, however, derailed Weatherman from finishing the race, according to NASCAR’s official results page.

Weatherman finished 35th out of 38 drivers.

Weatherman stated in a tweet before the race on why he decided to race in Thin Blue Line paint scheme race car.

"A lot going on in the world right now and I wanted to express that most first responders are good people.” Weatherman said in a tweet. “My uncle is a firefighter and he would do anything to help save lives.”

Before the race, Mike Harmon, who owns Mike Harmon Racing, which Weatherman runs under, told CNN that the reason the paint job supported first responders was to show their appreciation for them.
