BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — When you compile a 5-1 record in your first season as a member of the Big West Conference, you're going to draw some attention.
The CSUB Athletic Department announced Monday morning that the men's home game on Friday, January 29th with Cal State Fullerton will be broadcast on ESPNU as the Big West "Wild Card" Game of the Week. It will be CSUB’s first home game on ESPN’s linear programming.
As a result, tipoff was pushed back to 8 p.m. to accommodate the network broadcast.
Since the 2017-18 season, the 'Runners have been seen on the network's online platform, ESPN-3.
According to the athletic department: "The `Runners have played on national television several times before, making a few appearances in road contests against nationally-ranked opponents like Texas Tech, TCU, and some of their Pac-12 opponents. Bakersfield also hosted multiple nationally-televised games on the American Sports Network in the past, but next Friday’s game against Cal State Fullerton will mark the first home contest CSUB will get to play in front of the full audience of ESPN."
