The first round of the Fifa World Cup qualifiers was pushed back to March 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The US Men's National Soccer Team announced the news on Twitter.

In a press release, CONCACAF said the decision to push the first round back was made after discussions with "its member associations, FIFA and other stakeholders."

"Many parts of the region continue to have very challenging public health situations, and that has been a key factor in this decision," Concacaf said in the release. "Additionally, several countries across the confederation have travel restrictions and quarantine requirements, which would make international football involving 30 national teams extremely difficult."

CONCACAF said they would work with Fifa on a new schedule and release it at later date.
