BAKERSFIELD, Ca. — 11 local teams opened up state playoffs both on the soccer fields and basketball courts with many of those teams advancing to the second round.

BASKETBALL -

Girls

Division One: No. 13 Bakersfield fell to No. 4 Granada Hills Charter, 73-44

Division Three: No. 1 McFarland beat No. 16 Oxnard, 68-56

Division Four: No. 7 Tehachapi beat No. 10 Riverside-Hillcrest, 53-49

Boys

Division Three: No. 11 Bakersfield fell to No. 6 Crescenta Valley, 59-44

No. 12 BCHS fell to No. 5 Newport Beach-Pacificia Christian, 69-68

Division Four: No. 7 Independence beat No. 10 Lemoore, 76-71

Division Five: No. 1 Foothill beat No. 16 Bassett, 72-57

SOCCER -

Girls

Division Five: No. 4 Arvin beat No. 5 Venice, 4-2 (PK)

Boys

Division Two: No. 6 Ridgeview fell to No. 3 San Fernando, 2-1

Division Four: No. 2 Foothill beat No. 7 George Washington Prep, 2-1

Division Five: No. 1 Garces beat No. 8 Exeter, 4-0

All the winners advance to the second round of SoCal Regional Playoffs on Thursday.
