Football is a sport where the quarterback and running back often get all the attention and glory. But if you talk to a coach, more often than not they'll tell you that winning close games comes with a good kicker.
Many kickers get their start playing soccer. But there's soccer and then there's what Ábráham Katona played. This wasn't your standard youth soccer found at AYSO. Instead he played for one of the top youth academies in Hungary.
While he misses his home country saying, "Nothing else is like your home you know?" he's found a new home on the football field.

Matt Alvarez has been the kicking coach at Bakersfield College the last ten years and says he's never seen a kicker like Katona. "There's leg strength obviously," he said. "He can kick it 65 yards no problem. But can he kick it 65 yards consistently? Yeah he really can."
While he's got the talent, he's also got the ability keep things loose during practice. Last year, a video Alvarez shot of Katona's kicking/celebration antics was picked up by Fox Sports.

But while he can have fun, he also knows that if he devotes himself to the game he can get an education from a division I school along the way. But playing in college is just the start of his new found dreams.
"If I'm there my senior year then hopefully I'm good enough to be able to think about the NFL," he said.
