BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield College women's volleyball team is 25-1. They say this record is attributed to their team chemistry.

“Chemistry. This team does an exceptional job of blending its interesting that different pieces and different components make up chemistry," said head coach Carl Ferreria.

"I think if we didn’t have our team chemistry, we would not have succeeded in areas where we could’ve failed," said freshman Laine Camarillo.

The Renegades are riding a 19 match win streak and of their 26 matches played, they swept 19.

But, this past match in the South Regionals did not come so easy for the Renegades.

“In the fifth set, we were down 8-3. It could’ve ended completely different then it did, but we kept our heads high. We kept each other close and we stuck through it and found a way to win," said Camarillo.

They would go on to beat San Diego Mesa to advance to the CCCAA State Championship Quarterfinal.

“Something funny about win streaks is, it’s all in the past," said Ferrerira. "We’ve done a great job, but we don’t really want to worry about what’s behind us. [We] just want to keep focusing on what’s ahead of us."

The Renegades will face the Fresno City Rams this Friday at Solano College.
