Bella Bouma hoping to end HS volleyball career with fourth straight CIF title at BCHS

At Bakersfield Christian, winning has become all too common. First year volleyball coach Matt Touchstone stepped into a team that's loaded with talent. "They're all fairly even," he said. "It make my decisions tougher. But I don't mind that."

How could you with a team record of 33-1? But on a team that's this deep, senior Bella Bouma has been the one consistently leading the way. But she's not ready to take any of the credit. "We just run a really fast offense," she said. "All of our passes are great so I have every opportunity I can and take advantage of it."

For four years she's been one of the centerpieces of the Eagles' offense but this season, she's taken it to another level. She's the team leader in kills and blocks and has 30 more serve aces than she did last year.

"Whether they admit it or not they all kind of look up to her to set the tone of our matches," said Touchstone. Teammates echo coach's thought. "Playing or not she's always been supporting the team no matter what," said senior Demi Owens. "She's always the one to look to and she'll give you stamina for the next point."

Tuesday's 3-0 win over Hanford West put BCHS in the CIF title game against Mission Oak in Lemoore this Saturday. If the Eagles win it will be their fourth straight section title.
