It's team that has shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season going toe to toe with the conference's best and at times easily taking care of those at the bottom. But in round 1 of the WAC Tournament it was inconsistency late the proved to be the downfall for the Runners as #3 CSUB fell 59-53 in overtime to #6 Utah Valley.

"We're probably looking at "Oh this is Utah Valley. Oh this is the next game," head coach Greg McCall said after the loss. "I'm not looking at the next game. I'm looking at the game we have in front of us. We just didn't play good basketball and when you come out and...you don't follow the game plan this is the result that you're going to get."

The Runners shot just 32% from the field and allowed 21 points off turnovers. Senior Erika Williams led the way for CSUB knocking down six 3-pointers, grabbing nine rebounds and finishing with a team high 21 points. "I can't complain," she said after the loss. "I take these five years and...it's been fun."

Despite a slow start for CSUB, just before the halftime horn, Aja Williams hit a floater to tie the game at 28.

The Wolverines would battle from a seven point deficit with a little under seven minutes to play. Mariah Seals finished with a game high 22 points. Following a Williams' miss at the buzzer, the game went to overtime tied at 52 but the Runners failed to score a field goal the rest of the way.

The team has received an invitation to play in the WBI (Women's Basketball Invitational).
