BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Garces Memorial High School is returning their starting quarterback during the fourth week of the 2019 football season as senior Joseph Campbell has been approved to play.

Campbell was recovering from Valley Fever following what doctors believed to be a punctured lung and after months of recovery, he'll be able to join his Rams on the field despite not having full contact practices since being diagnosed.

"I think experience goes a lot, it goes a full way. I don't know, I think I'll be ready, I think I'm pretty prepared for it," Campbell said.

The senior threw for over 1900 yards a year ago and is returning just in time to face San Joaquin Memorial in the 'Holy Bowl' on Saturday. Garces is still looking for its first win of the season.
