Independence High graduate drafted by San Francisco 49ers

D.J. Reed, a Bakersfield native and graduate of Independence High School, was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 5th round of the 2018 NFL draft on Saturday.

Reed played two seasons of college football at Kansas State as a corner back and kick returner. In that time, he racked up 125 tackles and seven interceptions. He was a first-team All-Big 12 selection in 2017.

Reed stands in at 5'9" and 188 pounds. The 49ers used the 142nd pick in the draft on Reed.
