BAKERSFIELD, Ca. — More than 20 local girls basketball teams open up Central Section Playoffs on Tuesday night across Kern County and beyond.

All winners in the opening round advance to play in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

Division 2:

No. 7 Shafter beats No. 10 Monache, 48-31

No. 9 Liberty beats No. 8 Pioneer, 59-53

Byes: No. 1 Bakersfield and No. 3 Garces

Division 3:

No. 8 Frontier beats No. 9 Golden Valley, 60-43

No. 13 Arvin loses to No. 4 Tulare Union, 64-49

No. 10 Chavez beats No. 7 Orcutt Academy, 56-39

Division 4:

No. 8 West loses No. 9 Washington Union, 50-27

No. 5 BCHS beats No. 12 Mira Monte, 83-40

No. 4 Porterville beats No. 13 Highland, 77-35

No. 2 McFarland beats No. 15 Taft, 85-50

Division 5:
