As you gear up for all the action, we figured we would introduce you to the man behind the 23ABC and Jump Start Energy Shot car.
Perrin Kootstra has been racing since the 90’s and has made quite some noise here in Kern County in the super stocks division.
He placed first in the division back in 2014 and second the past two years.
Kootstra practices among acres of farmland in between Bakersfield and Arvin.
He originally bought the property for farming, but has turned it into something so much more.
In fact, the site used to be a testing area for B1 bombers.
When it comes to racing, the work can be tedious and Kootstra spends hours on his car each week.
“You try to have the car ready to go every race,” Kootstra said. “You try and create some of your own luck by not having breakdowns, by checking everything.”
