TAFT — The Northwest Bakersfield Babe Ruth team is headed to the World Series in Bismarck, North Dakota.

The team defeated Long Beach on Saturday afternoon to claim the Pacific Southwest Championship.

They are made up of 13-year-old to 15 year-old players from the Bakersfield and Taft areas.

Jeremy Beard, a coach on the team and Cal State Bakersfield's baseball manager knows this is a special day for these players.

"It's just a lifelong experience and that's really what it's all about," he said. "Creating those relationships. These kids are working really hard and they're having a lot of success."

The National Championship will be held on August 8th through the 13th.
