BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Ridgeview's cross country team was finally given their state championship rings Monday morning.

The team won the school's first-ever State Championship in November. The program also became the first team from the city of Bakersfield to win a state title in cross country.

"Winning State Championships was a big accomplishment," said Bryan Gaxiola, a Ridgeview senior. "It's never happened in Bakersfield so I'll never forget this moment especially with the people that I ran with. We put so much time into it so it definitely seemed like all the hard work had finally paid off."
