It was one of the craziest games we've seen all season, a comeback in the final seconds that set up a double overtime win for the Garces Memorial High School Rams.

Garces' Scott Boylan is a coach's dream player.

“I just run as hard as I can, straight as hard as I can,” Garces Memorial football senior and student athlete of the week Scott Boylan said.

The senior plays every down on Friday nights, splitting his time as wide out, defensive back and kick returner.

"He gives us everything he's got. He's a stellar student, He's got a 4.4-4.5 GPA,” Coach A.J. Gass said.

Maybe it was those smarts to save his best plays for the end of last Friday's win over Centennial High.

"I didn't really have a good game up until the fourth quarter,” Boylan said.

When the Golden Hawks took the lead with 31 seconds to play, Scott knew he needed to make something happen.

"For some reason they kicked it to him again which worked out in our favor and Scott does what he does well and that's run."

Scott's huge return set up the rams' comeback try and gave Brandon Villalobos a chance to kick a game tying field goal.

"He's done that before and I was just ecstatic,” Garces senior Brandon Villalobos said.

It didn't take long for the herd to be ecstatic as well, after Villalobos sent the game to overtime it was again Scott who found the right moment to make a play.

His touchdown in double OT proved to be the difference as the rams picked up their first league win of the season.

"The fans charged the field. That was awesome, it just gives you a lot of pride in Garces."

It's thanks to Scott's clutch moments and the way coach Gass says he “leads by example” that the Rams are hoping to keep winning and ride that momentum into playoffs.

"I just try and play my hardest and do everything I can all around the field,” Boylan said.

Scott is the Carl's Jr. Student Athlete of the Week.
