NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. — Vanessa Bryant with her three daughters paid tribute to Kobe and Gigi Bryant by posing in front of a mural on Sunday.

"We were looking through photos of Kobe and Giana Bryant online and once we saw that photo we just both knew that was the one," said Julien Bleser, artist/sign painter.

Another artist, Alex Varestah said it wasn't about basketball.

"It wasn't about the Lakers, it was about a helicopter full of people that lost their lives, so that's why there wasn't any purple or yellow, or any jerseys, or anything to do with basketball."

While painting the mural, Varestah felt a strong emotional pull to this story.

The mural is located on Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach, Varestah and Bleser say other companies are asking them to paint more murals around the state.
