Hurricane season is winding down, and looking back, it was one of the worst seasons in years, killing more people than any given year in the last decade and costing billions of dollars.

But is it possible to stop a hurricane before it arrives?

Some wild theories have been tossed around over the years to stop a hurricane in it's tracks, including cooling off the water that gives the hurricane its energy.
