Tornadoes, severe storms tear across middle US

Kansas City Severe Storms — March 6, 2017
Posted

A line of severe thunderstorms swept across the middle of the United States late Monday evening. The storms produced large hail, strong, damaging winds and nearly three dozen tornadoes.

The severe weather stretched from Oklahoma up to Minnesota and Wisconsin, causing widespread damage across nine states.

The storms began near sunset and shortly after, so residents affected by the storms weren't able to see the storms coming.

Fortunately, no one died from any of the severe weather, but more than a dozen people reported injuries from tornadoes.

Hundreds of buildings were either destroyed or sustained major damage. Trees and branches were blown down, and at one point, hundreds of thousands of people were without power.
