Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow married Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in a sunset ceremony at La Paris Estate in Cape Town, South Africa. About 260 guests attended the nuptials. The current minor-league baseball player and the 2017 Miss Universe became engaged in January 2019.

“I’ve been looking forward to three things,” Tebow, 32, told People of his wedding day. “The first moment I see her in her wedding dress, the first kiss, and the first dance together as man and wife. It’s such a special night.”

Check out the photos of their big day that he posted to Instagram at @timtebow:

The couple included elements from both American and South African cultures in the event to represent both of their backgrounds.

“We’re both very traditional,” Nel-Peters, 24, told the magazine. “We want to look back at the wedding and see that it was intimate, elegant and traditional. We definitely wanted it to be something that we could look back on and know that nothing was dated. We want to remember this day for the rest of our lives.”

The bride also took to Instagram at @demileighnp to share some photos from their wedding, including these stunning pictures that showed off the face painting that was a part of their unique celebration:

In another post, Tebow expressed his love for South African culture, noting that he may be biased because they raised his wife:

He also shared a video that showcased their rehearsal event:

“Blending culture + traditions,” he wrote in the caption. “Grateful.”

How sweet!

The newlyweds met through Night to Shine, a big event that was put on by Tebow’s charity. The Tim Tebow Foundation is a faith-based organization that celebrates those with special needs.

“Her sister has special needs, so we invited them to Night to Shine in South Africa,” he told NBC’s “Today” in 2018. “We kind of met and started talking through that and haven’t stopped.”

Congratulations to the happy couple and best wishes for their future!
