BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Valley CAN and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District are teaming up to offer free emissions tests.

The tests are available for San Joaquin Valley residents who have owned their car for 6 months and fail emissions tests. The first 525 vehicles that qualify after the free emissions test will receive a $500 voucher for repairs at a participating STAR smog shop.

Valley CAN says to expect a 2+ hour wait. The event only provides emissions screenings. Smog certificates will not be provided. Diesel vehicles will also not be accepted.

The emissions tests will be held on Saturday, December 1 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the South "P" Street Parking Lot of the Kern County Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are located at 1142 South P Street in South Bakersfield.
