While it will be a seasonably hot week in Bakersfield, parts of Kern County are going to be very hot.
Highs in the Valley will hover around 100° this week and into the weekend.
In the Kern Desert, high temperatures will be much hotter.
By the end of the week highs around 110° are likely.
Due to the potential for very high temperatures, the National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for most of the Kern desert from Thursday through Monday.
