Heat and wind warnings for Kern County

Extreme heat for Labor Day
Posted
and last updated

On Sunday LA County reached 121 degrees in Woodland Hills. This is a record breaking temperature for the first time since 2006, with temperatures reaching 119.

Another hot weekend here in Kern County, but temperatures are expected to drop early next week through next weekend. Although we will see a hot Labor Day. Temperatures in the Valley could potentially reach 105-110 degrees. An excessive heat warning will remain in effect through Monday.

We will also see a Red Flag Warning for the mountain communities, as strong winds take over. This will pose a great fire risk, according to the National Weather Service. Everyone is urged to refrain from outdoor burning.

Air quality will continue to remain unhealthy for the holiday, with an AQI of 187. We will continue to monitor this smoke from the California wildfires.
