There’s simply nothing that goes better with wine than a plate of cheese. If you’ve ever had wine-infused cheese, however, you know the best appetizer for a glass of wine is more wine — when it’s in cheese and spread on crackers.

That’s why the brand Kaukauna, which has been making cheese balls since 1918 and is the largest manufacturer of cheese balls in the U.S., has come up with a new way to enjoy cheese and wine together: a rosé-infused white cheddar cheese ball.

Made with aged white cheddar cheese and blended with semi-sparkling rosé wine, the cheese ball contains sweet notes similar to white zinfandel. Each ball is also covered in a crunchy almond coating for a combination of unique flavors and texture.

“We’re excited to launch the Rosé White Cheddar flavor just in time for fall, especially since consumers have been continuing to drink rosé past summer and it has become a year-round trend,” Shelley Sternard, senior associate brand manager of Kaukauna, said in a press release. “Whether displayed alongside crackers and veggies or incorporated into an appetizer, Rosé White Cheddar is perfectly compatible with classic fall flavors, and its versatility makes for a wonderful spread.”

The new rosé white cheddar cheese balls will be available beginning in September in the deli section at Kroger stores nationwide. They will then begin rolling out to other major retailers over the next few months.

The new flavor joins a handful of other flavors by Kaukauna, including classic cheese balls like sharp cheddar, Asiago and smoky bacon.

They also have a port wine flavor that comes as a spread, log or cheese ball. Made with aged cheddar cheese, the port wine cheese ball is then blended with a tangy port wine finish and covered with crunchy almonds.
