The suspect in a violent standoff in Northwest Bakersfield last year has taken a plea deal, according to Kern County Superior Court records.

Darren Aldridge, 49, pleaded no contest to three criminal counts on Thursday: Assault with a firearm on a police officer; shooting at an occupied motor vehicle; and possession of a firearm by a felon.

As a result of the plea deal, the other 28 charges against Aldridge -- including nine counts of attempted murder -- will be dropped.

Aldridge is scheduled to be sentenced on October 12.
