UPDATE: BPD investigating a deadly shooting in Central Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UPDATE: Bakersfield Police have confirmed that one person has died following the shooting in Central Bakersfield Sunday morning. The other victim in this shooting is in critical condition.

Officials said both victims of the shooter were men. When officials arrived on scene they found one man suffering from gun shot wounds who is currently in critical condition.

However, deputies later received reports of another man with gun shots wounds at Memorial Hospital, that man was later transported to Kern Medical where he succumbed to his injuries.

One person is in critical condition, and another has major injuries, following a shooting in Central Bakersfield Sunday morning.

According to Bakersfield Police, they responded to reports of a shooting at the corner of Isla Verde Street and West Columbus Street at around 12:40 a.m.

When they arrived they found one people were suffering from gunshot wounds. That person was taken to Memorial Hospital.

BPD also received reports of another victim with gunshot wounds at the hospital. They believe this person was injured in connection to the shooting on Isla Verde Street.

There is no word yet on any suspect information.
