BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Department said they located a body in the Kern River Thursday morning near the mouth of the canyon.

The coroner confirmed that it was 32-yr old Shahzad Khan's body that was found near the mouth of the canyon around 7:45 Thursday morning.

There's no positive identification of the victim but this is the same area where recovery crews had been looking for the body of a man who was swept away in the rapids following a professional rafting trip.

The family of Khan told 23ABC that he was the man that went under. Khan's brother-in-law said the family has taken several trips down the Kern River in the past.
