New and old won at 2019 The Mac & Cheese Fest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — New and old were winners at the 2019 The Mac & Cheese Festival. The 6th annual food festival tested the mac & cheese skills of 26 local restaurants Saturday on Cal State University Bakersfield's campus.

Everyone who came received a wine glass, plastic plate and a wooden token to vote for their favorite mac & cheese. The recepient of the most wooden tokens won the People's Choice Award. For the fourth straight years Countryside Market's chili verde mac & cheese was the fan favorite.

Along with the People's Choice, four judges selected their favorite mac & cheese. The judges were KGET's Karen Hua, Bakersfield foodie Freddy Lwin, No. 2 Pencil food blogger Melissa Mondragon and 23ABC's Scott Sheahen. The judges selected Dickey's BBQ mac & cheese topped with smoked brisket as their favorite. A close second was last year's Judges' winner Mossman's waffle mac & cheese.

Proceed from the event went to help CSUB's athletic fund.
