BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Coroner identified the victim in the deadly La Mirage Motel shooting as 44-year-old Brian Donte Dickerson.

According to the coroner's office, a postmortem examination was conducted and the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest. The coroner ruled Dickerson's death a homicide.

The Bakersfield Police Department arrested 46-year-old John Glenn Hardison Jr. Wednesday in connection to the deadly shooting in South Bakersfield.

Hardison was arrested around 3 p.m. at the Vagabond Inn, located a 6100 Knudsen Drive. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Kern County Jail for his outstanding arrest warrant.
