Five detention deputies at Lerdo Jail have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the Kern County Detention Officers Association.
According the KCDOA president, Dustin Alkire, all five deputies who have tested positive for COVID-19 are at home and are all feeling a little better. There is no word yet though on any of them returning to work yet.
Alkire also said several other officers have self-quarantined based on recommendations from Kern County Public Health.
According to Alkire, anyone who visits Lerdo Jail will have their temperature take at the main gate. If someone has a fever of 100 degrees or more they sent to a medical professional to be further evaluated.
