BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A local restaurant is giving back to the community during these difficult times.

Shoyu Sushi, located in Northeast and Northwest Bakersfield, is donating 3,500 masks to be distributed to various organizations throughout Bakersfield. The restaurant is also donating $2,000 to the Bakersfield Homeless Center.

The announcement came Monday morning during a press briefing at the location on Calloway Drive.

"Many organizations have struggled to find enough face masks during the ongoing COVID- 19 pandemic to help workers limit exposure to the virus," the City said in a release. "That struggle has included the Bakersfield community."

The masks donated will go to help benefit Bakersfield organizations such as The City of Bakersfield, Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce, Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and Kern Community Foundation.
