Several Kern County businesses, including gyms, hair and nail salons, houses of worship and non-critical sectors will be ordered to halt indoor operations beginning Friday, according to the Kern County Department of Public Health.

The closures on Friday will be inevitable, according to Public Health spokesperson Michelle Corson, who announced the county has been flagged by the state for the third consecutive day for failing to meet COVID-19 metrics when it comes to case rate.

On Tuesday, the county will be moved to the state's monitoring list.

The sectors listed above will have to hold back indoor operations until the state announces that they can reopen in Kern County, Corson confirmed.
