BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A man was shot to death off Union Avenue in Central Bakersfield in the early hours of Monday morning and the Bakersfield Police Department is searching for a van seen fleeing the scene.

BPD said the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. in the area of Union Ave. near California Avenue. When officers arrived the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses reported a dark-colored minivan was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed following the shooting. The van is described as a full-sized, spray painted black Ford Van with a possible broken back window.
