BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department reported the department has investigated eight homicide cases this year and there have been six arrests in those cases so far.
That is compared to 2019 when, at this point in the year, BPD reported 11 homicide investigations.
BPD said it investigated a total of 34 homicides last year.
As far as shootings, BPD said there have been 22 shootings with a victim so far this year, and there were only 11 at this point in 2019.
BPD said these are just incidents that it has investigated and officials say the numbers go up and down every year, so they say they don't believe it's a trend.
