BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department said it did not contact businesses at The Marketplace about potential threats and did not inform business owners to close early.

According the BPD, the department was made aware via social media of businesses claiming to have been contacted about potential threats. BPD said they have found no credible information of potential threats.

BPD said that due to the attention these rumors have brought to The Marketplace, it will provide extra patrols in the area.

Anyone with information regarding possible threats to The Marketplace or any other business is asked to call the BPD at 327-7111.
