BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a suspected homicide after a City Code Enforcement officer found a woman's body on a property in East Bakersfield Monday morning.

According to BPD, around 8:55 a.m. Monday the city officer was conducting a property clean-up at a building in the 300 block of Daniels Lane. BPD said based on observed trauma to the remains, the investigation is being treated as a homicide.

KCSO has identified the victim as 28-year-old Marilyn Cuervo. Her family has been notified of her death.
