BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is warning residents about a scam that has resurfaced called "The Circle Game".

BPD said "The Circle Game", sometimes referred to as "Loom Circle", “Mandala Game”, “Blessing Circle” and "Money Game", is a scam that asks people to pay an "entry fee" in order to play. Similar to pyramid schemes, as more people play, the original members are told they will get payouts from the money of the new members.

The most recent version of this scam promises an $800 return for a $100 investment, according to BPD. Police said at some point, the system collapses and people lose money.

"Not only will you lose money, this activity is also illegal in the US and many other countries," police said.
